Mr. Anthony J. Harper (A.J.) is President of ADVISORport. Mr. Harper is responsible for the strategic direction and management of unified managed accounts, separately managed accounts, money manager outsourcing and mutual fund wrap services. Mr. Harper is a member of the Operating Committee of PFPC. Mr. Harper came to PFPC in 2004 to establish the company's global product management unit.
Before joining PFPC, he had been based in Frankfurt, Germany as Vice President, Business Development - Europe for Federated Investors. Prior to that, he was Director of Federated's broker/dealer subsidiary that pioneered a fund trading solution, TrustConnect, for trust departments. During his 11-year tenure at Federated, he also served as product manager for its fund services, plan administration and asset management divisions.
He earned a bachelor of arts at The Johns Hopkins University and holds a graduate diploma from the University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. He is a member of the Executive Committee of Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut. He was an English-Speaking Union Scholar, attending Rydal School in Colywn Bay, Wales.
Rudolph J. Bayer, Sr. Vice President, Product Management
Mr. Rudi Bayer is responsible for global product strategy and development for ADVISORport. He has over 20 years of experience successfully developing and marketing retail and institutional investment advisory products and services. Mr. Bayer joined the team in April 2007 from Placemark Investments, Inc. where he was responsible for overseeing the North American Advisor Sales Team and marketing staff’s distribution efforts. Prior to that, Mr. Bayer was a Partner and Managing Director at Meyerhoff Investment Holdings in Baltimore where he built global distribution for their on- and off-shore hedge funds. Mr. Bayer was also Executive Vice President and National Sales Manger at Oberon Financial Technology and was also a Director at Deutsche Bank Alex Brown.
Mr. Bayer holds a bachelor’s degree in both Economics and Marketing from Temple University along with a master’s degree in International Finance from Thunderbird School of Global Management. He also holds a Series 65 license and is a registered investment advisor.
Mr. Jeffrey Biernat has more than 20 years of experience in the management and distribution of financial products and services. As Senior Vice President of Client Account Management, Mr. Biernat is responsible for the internal and external regional sales departments, client services, relationship management and the marketing support group.
Before joining ADVISORport, Mr. Biernat was Vice President and Head of New Business Development for Curian Capital. Prior to joining Curian, Mr. Biernat was Vice President and Southeast Regional Director for JP Morgan Investment Management where he helped build investment relationships with banks, corporations and investment advisors in 16 Southeastern states. Before JP Morgan, Mr. Biernat spent four years as the Midwest Regional Director for SEI Investments helping banks implement customized investment asset allocation platforms and mutual fund wrap programs. Previous to SEI, Mr. Biernat spent six years as Vice President and Investment Sales Director for Citicorp Investment Services where he helped build their retail bank brokerage program.
Mr. Biernat has a B.S.B.A. in Finance from the University of Denver.
Kent Bonniwell, Sr. Vice President, Business Solutions
Mr. Kent Bonniwell is one of the founding partners of ADVISORport, and is the Senior Vice President for Business Solutions. At ADVISORport, Mr. Bonniwell is responsible for developing and enhancing the ADVISORport platform as well as the reporting and operations infrastructure.
Previously, he was an Assistant Vice President and Director of Research and Systems for Ashbridge Investment Management, Inc. from 1995 to 1998 where he was responsible for the development of the portfolio accounting platform and client reporting systems. Mr. Bonniwell also directed the quantitative research for manager screening and capital market research. Prior to Ashbridge, Mr. Bonniwell was an auditor for Ernst & Young, LLP.
He is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College with a B.A. in Accounting. He is a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA).
James Gandolfo, Sr. Vice President, Business Development
Mr. James S. Gandolfo is Senior Vice President of Business Development. He oversees the sales of enterprise solutions for managed account services including unified managed accounts, separately managed accounts, mutual fund wraps, and money manager outsourcing solutions.
Mr. Gandolfo joined the team from Wilmington Brokerage Services Company (WBSC), a registered broker-dealer and wholly-owned subsidiary of Wilmington Trust Company, where he was president and chief executive officer. During his tenure at Wilmington Brokerage Services Company, he led the design, development, implementation and sales of its first brokerage delivered Wrap product His previous work experience includes serving as a vice president and program manager for a Delaware/ Maryland banking institution.
A graduate of Radford University, Radford, Virginia, Mr. Gandolfo earned a bachelor of science double major degree in political science and history. He holds a variety of NASD licenses, including Series 6, 7, 24 and 63, and is chairman of the American Bankers Association’s HSA Council, and a board of directors member for the HSA Coalition.
Leigh Lament, Chief Compliance Officer
Ms. Leigh Lament joined ADVISORport in May of 2007 and is currently the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) for the firm. As CCO, Ms. Lament is responsible for the design, implementation and oversight of ADVISORport’s Compliance Program.
Previously, Ms. Lament was the Chief Compliance Officer at The Swarthmore Group, Inc. where she was responsible for the development of the firm's compliance program, including the creation, implementation and review of the firm's Code of Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures. Also, Ms. Lament provided advice and counsel on a broad variety of legal matters. Prior to her role as CCO, Ms. Lament was an Associate in the Intellectual Property Group with the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld where she handled a variety of trademark and copyright matters.
Ms. Lament received her JD from Villanova University School of Law, and her BA in Art History from Dickinson College. Ms. Lament is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia Bar Associations.
Kelly Lynch, Vice President, Business Development
Ms. Kelly Lynch serves as Vice President of Business Development for ADVISORport. She has more than 19 years experience in financial services and related technology. Her responsibilities have included Sales, Product Design and Product Management.
Prior to joining ADVISORport, Kelly worked at the Franklin/Templeton Group where her most recent responsibility was managing operations for Franklin/Templeton's Institutional Services group.
Ms. Lynch graduated from the University of Colorado with degrees in Finance and Philosophy.
Karen Rabb, Chief Operation Officer
Ms. Karen Rabb is Chief Operations Officer of ADVISORport, overseeing the company’s account services, trading, reporting, mutual fund wrap recordkeeping and outsourcing units. Ms. Rabb has more than 20 years of experience within various sectors of the financial services industry.
Previously, she was Senior Vice President of PFPC, Inc. In that capacity, Ms. Rabb was instrumental in building the company’s health savings account, mutual fund wrap, cash portal and securities clearing businesses. Before joining PFPC, Ms. Rabb held senior leadership roles in trust operations at Wachovia and PNC Bank – including oversight of common trust funds, mutual funds and securities processing.
Eric Schaefer, Sr. Vice President, Head of Research
Mr. Eric Schaefer is Senior Vice President and Head of Research for ADVISORport, spearheading all of the investment management and analysis activities the business undertakes for its clients.
He joins ADVISORport after a twenty-year career with Citigroup. During his tenure with Citigroup, Mr. Schaefer held a variety of investment related positions with a variety of Citigroup entities. His most recent position was as the global product manager for portfolio analytics with the corporation's custody and investor services arm. Prior to that, he spent over ten years with Citigroup's asset management division. His last position was Deputy Chief Investment Officer for the division's retail and high-net worth segment.
Mr. Schaefer holds a masters in business administration (in finance) and a baccalaureate degree (in economics); both degrees awarded by New York University. In addition, he is the recipient of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
