ADVISORport Security

Security is a priority at ADVISORport. We are committed to protecting the security and confidentiality of your information. We use a combination of state-of-the-art technology and methods to help ensure that your online sessions are secure.

  • Internet Security Measures
  • Any sensitive personal information that you send to our Web site is held in a secured environment, protected by tools such as firewall's and/or database field encryption. No representation is made, however, regarding the unconditional security of such submissions.
  • Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Web Sites
  • Personal information shared over the Internet can be used to commit fraud. One common method is for thieves to create a Web site using a name that is similar to that of a reputable business, for instance by using a common misspelling of the company's name. The intent is to lure you into clicking onto the copycat Web site and giving your personal information, including your account number and password. We caution you to make sure of whom you are dealing with over the Internet and to understand what will be done with your information. Always check that you have typed the correct Web site address before entering personal information onto a site.
  • Browsers
  • ADVISORport's standards are among the highest of companies on the Internet. For accessing our secure applications, ADVISORport requires that your browser supports SSL, and does not allow information to be stored on your hard drive unless you specifically download it and save it on your computer.
  • Firewall
  • ADVISORport uses firewall's to help limit entry by anyone without proper authorization. A firewall is a security mechanism that regulates the data going in and out of a network. It is a commonly used, specialized computer, which acts as a shield against data going in or out of a network. It checks to make sure that communications only occur between approved individuals and that the communication is in the proper protocol.

Multi-Factor Authentication
Multi-Factor Authentication is a sophisticated security technique used to verify each user and the information that each is authorized to access. This ensures control over access to data.

Encryption
128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption protects data as it moves across the Internet. ADVISORport uses 128-bit SSL encryption and private keys from Verisign Corporation, the leader in Internet transaction security. Verisign's SSL encryption confirms the site user's authenticity and encrypts data as it is transferred to the user's computer each time a new screen is accessed. So, when advisors or clients view account data or reports, the encryption makes those documents unreadable to unwanted viewers.

Clearing Your Internet Browser's Cache and History
To ensure your privacy, we recommend that you clear the Internet browser's cache and history after visiting any ADVISORport Web site. Internet browsing software, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape, stores or "caches" content of Web sites visited during online sessions to display pages previously viewed more quickly. Additionally, the Internet browser's history list tracks Web site addresses you visit. Clearing your browser's cache and history ensures that other people using the computer (particularly public computers) do not have access to your session information.
